Victims ‘expected to just tough it out’

There’s a taboo against men who have been sexually abused speaking out about their experiences, said Perry McLeod-Shabogesic.Some seem to question why men — who are expected to be strong — let themselves be sexually abused, the director of transitional programming and community initiatives at the Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre said.

Both Health Sciences North’s Diabetes Care Services and the Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre are hosting open houses Nov. 14 in honour of World Diabetes Day.
A press release from Shkagamik-Kwe said roughly nine million Canadians are living with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Those over the age of 40 with high blood pressure and cholesterol are at risk of developing diabetes.
